Welcome back to the Stayner Chamber, Joy’s Boutique! We missed you and are glad to have you back, joining with other businesses in the Chamber once again.

 
COMMITTEE CORNER – MOTHER’S DAY DRAW
Thank you to Terry Duits and Troy Disabato for their hard work with the Mother’s Day Draw this year. The Mothers Day basket is complete and looks beautiful!  Thank you to all the businesses who donated items for the basket.  You can see the basket displayed at the Stayner branches of TD Canada Trust and RBC Royal Bank. It will be moving back and forth between the two locations.  The tickets are one for $2 or three for $5 and are available for purchase at Stayner Home Hardware, EXIT Realty, Torn Pages, Forget Me Not Flowers, Joy’s Boutique, TD Canada Trust and RBC Royal Bank in Stayner. The draw will be held on Saturday, May 12^th at noon.
 

KINSMEN DUCK RACE
You may have seen some of the duck-themed windows in the Stayner businesses. They are gearing up for the big race! The Stayner Chamber will have a duck in the Kinsmen Duck Race which has been decorated by the craft group at The Door, Clearview’s Youth Centre.  Photos of the duck are also posted on our Shop Stayner and Facebook pages. The big race is on Saturday, May 5^th at Kinsmen Park in Stayner. Races start at 1:00 pm but there's a full day of festivities starting at 7:30 am. May the fastest duck win!
 

CHAMBER BUSINESS AWARDS
A huge thank-you to Chamber member Shawn Davidson for stepping up to coordinate the Chamber Business Awards in the absence of Juliet Campbell. Applications for the awards are now on the Stayner Chamber website and accessible through our Shop Stayner page as well as Facebook.  Forms are also available for pick-up at Barb’s Clothes Closet, Clearview Municipal Office, Foodland, Forget Me Not Flowers, Home Hardware, Stayner Library, The DanceRoom and Torn Pages. The deadline for submitting entries is May 14^th and the Business Awards will take place on Saturday, May 26^th at 7:00 pm at Sunnidale Corners Hall.
 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on May 26^th at Sunnidale Corners Hall before the Chamber Business Awards. The following positions are up for new appointment:

• Director: 3-year term
• Secretary: 2-year term

If you are interested in running for either of these positions at the meeting, please contact the President, John Squire Sr. at staynerchamber@gmail.com.
 

CANADA DAY
The Chamber is STILL looking for a chair of the Canada Day events.  There are many volunteers waiting to help out on the day, but a Chair (or co-Chairs) is needed to plan and pull all the activities together. July 1^st is on a Sunday this year. Please contact staynerchamber@gmail.com if you are able to take the lead on this!
 


WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND
Let’s help each other out local businesses! Consider doing any of the below ideas to promote our local businesses:

• Send people from your store to other businesses in town. People look to you for information. Help spread the love by suggesting other local businesses for them to visit!
• Share Facebook posts of local businesses on your personal Facebook page
• Write a review on Google or Facebook for local businesses that you want to support
• When doing your own business postings on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, use the hashtags #shopstayner and #stopinstayner

Let’s draw more shoppers to our area!
 

STAYNER ART FEST
The Stayner Art Fest currently has 13 confirmed artisans and 2 food vendors for the day.  Can we get more? If you know of an artist or food vendor who may be interested in having a booth at the Art Fest, please contact Connie Leishman at leishmanpottery@sympatico.ca. More information on the Stayner Art Fest will soon be up on our website at www.staynerchamber.ca.
 


A PICTURE’S WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
It was suggested at the last meeting that the photos on the Stayner Chamber website could use some updating. We agree! Do you have photos of Stayner that you love? Good quality photos from events you have attended? Street shots, Stayner landmarks, children playing in the park, the Stayner gazebo, a beautiful winter day? If so, please consider sharing your photos with us.  All photos will be reviewed and a selection will be chosen for our Website and Facebook page.  Please send your photos to Kat Salvador at ksalvador75@gmail.com. Please note: If you send us a photo you are giving permission for us to post it, so please consider carefully before sharing.
 


MEMBERSHIP
New to the Chamber and joining late? All NEW members receive a pro-rated fee for the remainder of the year.
