MOTHER’S DAY DRAW WINNER
Congratulations to Val Brady, winner of the Mother’s Day basket!  Thank you to all businesses who generously contributed to the basket and for everyone who purchased tickets!

 

STAYNER CHAMBER BUSINESS AWARDS
The Stayner Chamber Business Awards honours our local businesses and citizens for their outstanding contributions to our community and it’s people.  The Business Excellence Awards recognizes and celebrates businesses and individuals who have distinguished themselves by fostering growth, innovation, community service and excellence in their sectors.  They are selected by their peers as a tribute to their achievements. 

The nominations are in and the panel is deliberating.  The Stayner Chamber Business Awards will take place this Saturday, May 26^th at 7:00 pm at Sunnidale Corners Hall, 12391 County Road 10, Stayner, across from the Shell Gas Station.  Tickets are $10 per person and are available for purchase at Stayner Home Hardware and at the door.  Best of luck to all the nominees! 

 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on May 26^th at Sunnidale Corners Hall immediately before the Chamber Business Awards. The following positions are up for new appointment:

• Director: 3-year term
• Secretary: 2-year term

A PICTURE’S WORTH 1,000 WORDS
The Chamber website and Facebook page need your help!  We are looking for updated photos of the area to use on our social media platforms.  Do you have photos of Stayner that you love? Good quality photos from events you have attended? Street shots, Stayner landmarks, children playing in the park, the Stayner gazebo, a beautiful winter day?  If so, please consider sharing your photos with us.  All photos will be reviewed, and a selection will be chosen for our Website and Facebook page.  Please send your photos to Kat Salvador at ksalvador75@gmail.com. Please note: If you send us a photo you are giving permission for us to post it, so please consider carefully before sharing.

 

MUSIC IN THE PARK
Music In The Park, one part of the weekly Music, Market & Park It event that happens Thursday evenings at Station Park in the summer months, is still looking for sponsors.  If you are interested in sponsoring one of these evenings, please contact John Squire at staynerchamber@gmail.com.  Sponsors receive verbal recognition of sponsorship throughout the evening over the speakers and further networking opportunities through the sale of 50/50 tickets that night.  The first market of the season is Thursday, June 7^th, don’t miss out!


CANADA DAY
Thank you very much to Lisa Squire who has kindly agreed to chair the Canada Day festivities again this year.  Although a few volunteers have already been designated to help on Canada Day, more are needed.  Please contact the Chamber at staynerchamber@gmail.com if you are interested to volunteer on Canada Day. The Chamber’s efforts will be geared toward children’s activities, so if you have any ideas for children’s activities for the day, please let us know!

WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND
Don’t forget to give a helping hand to your fellow businesses. Consider doing any of the below ideas to promote our local businesses:

• Send people from your store to other businesses in town. People look to you for information. Help spread the love by suggesting other local businesses for them to visit!
• Share Facebook posts of local businesses on your personal Facebook page
• Write a review on Google or Facebook for local businesses that you want to support
• When doing your own business postings on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, use the hashtags #shopstayner and #stopinstayner

Let’s draw more shoppers to our area!
 


STAYNER ART FEST
The Stayner Art Fest currently has 17 interested artisans, 8 of which are confirmed, and 3 food vendors for the day.  If you know of an artist or food vendor who may be interested in having a booth at the Art Fest, please contact Connie Leishman at leishmanpottery@sympatico.ca or Marion Spellman at pspellman@sympatico.ca.  Application forms are available for pick-up from Knit ‘N’ Kaboodle on Main Street Stayner.  More information on the Stayner Art Fest can be found on our website at www.staynerchamber.ca and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/StaynerArtFest/.
