Hello Chamber members!

The summer has ended and that means back-to-school and back to the Chamber.  Welcome back to the monthly Chamber meetings! At the first meeting back last Wednesday, September 19th some important information was discussed along with our upcoming events.  Take a look below to see what’s happening.

 
WELCOME!
We would like to welcome The Compass Real Estate Team to the Stayner Chamber. Welcome, Charley Lewis!
 
 
INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT
It has been announced that Vice President, Ross Campbell has stepped down from his position due to health reasons. The Chamber wishes him a quick and easy recovery and looks forward to welcoming him back to the Chamber in an alternate capacity when he is ready.  Due to the vacancy, the Chamber Executive will be electing an Interim Vice President to fill this position until May 2019 when a new VP will be voted upon by the Chamber members. If you are interested in filling this position, please e-mail President John Squire Sr. at staynerchamber@gmail.com before Sunday, September 30th.
 
 
ALL CANDIDATES MEETING
The Stayner Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an all candidates meeting ahead of the Municipal Election on Tuesday, October 9th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the New Lowell Legion, 5357 County Rd 9.  Please save this date and time on your calendar.  Further information regarding this event is provided in the document below.

ONTARIO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
It was voted by the Membership that the Stayner Chamber of Commerce will be joining the Ontario Chamber of Commerce as of January 2019. The cost to join is $10 per member and offers many additional benefits such as discounts on Purolator, Grand & Toy, preferred rates for POS transactions, etc.  More importantly, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce represents and defends the interests of small businesses to the Government.  Membership fees will be increased by $10 this year to facilitate the Chamber’s joining of the OCC.  For more information on the OCC, please visit their website www.occ.ca.
 


 
 
KNIT N KABOODLE
On Thursday, October 11th, Marion Spellman is hosting an After 5 event at her store Knit N Kaboodle at 7314 Hwy-26, Main Street Stayner to celebrate her 38 amazing years in business. Everyone is welcome so please stop by to congratulate her achievement, mingle and see what’s in store!
 

 
 
BUSINESS CRAWL
Visit the town of Stayner from October 1st to 26th and take part in the Stayner Business Crawl, sponsored by Nottawasaga Station by MacPherson Builders.  This new event has a Grand Prize of $1,000.  Visit all eleven businesses on the passport for a hole punch then drop the completed passport at one of the three drop-off locations. There are great deals available at the participating businesses so October is a great time to shop!  The Grand Prize Draw will take place onSaturday
October 27th at 3:00 pm at the Nottawasaga Station Model Home, on Mowat Street North in Stayner. Passports are available at participating locations and at the Clearview Municipal office.  Visit www.staynerbusinesscrawl.com  for more details.

 

WITCHES WALK
The Witches Walk is happening on 
Friday November 2nd this year and it is shaping up to be an epic event! Even bigger than last year, we will have the pink fire truck, entertainment at the Gazebo, vendors in the Dairy Queen parking lot and events at the Stayner Library. Passports are $10 and will be available soon. The Prize Centre will be at EXIT Realty Welcome Home again this year.
 

 
 
TREE LIGHTING
Charly Lewis and Carole Kerfoot will be Co-Chairing the Tree Lighting event this year. Earlier in the year, the Membership approved the ordering of new lights.  The tree will be re-strung with these new lights in time for the event. There is also additional money available from Clearview Township that will be put towards decorations. The tree and gazebo will have a refreshed look this year.
 
 
NEXT CHAMBER MEETING
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday October 17th at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers, 217 Gideon St. See you soon!
