WELCOME!
Welcome to new Chamber members Sassenach and Sassenach & Thistle! These are two separate businesses housed in one lovely location. Check them out at 7272 Hwy 26 in Stayner.
 
INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT
At September’s meeting the membership was asked to submit their interest for the interim Vice President position, which the Executive would appoint, until the Annual General Meeting in May 2019 when the position would be voted upon again by the full membership. Thank you to Charley Lewis of The Compass Realty Team for her interest and welcome to the Stayner Chamber Executive!
2019 MEMBERSHIP
New For 2019! The Stayner Chamber of Commerce will now be a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. This means that each individual Stayner Chamber member will ALSO be a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and will have access to the member benefits and information from that chamber as well.
The OCC offers many additional benefits such as discounts on Purolator, Grand & Toy, preferred rates for POS transactions, etc. More importantly, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce represents and defends the interests of small businesses to the Government.
To cover the cost of the OCC fee, your Stayner Chamber membership will be increased by $10 for the 2019 membership year. This means the Early Bird rate for 2019 will be $110 (payable by January 31, 2019) and the full membership fee payable after January 31, 2019 will be $130.

MAIN STREET BANNERS
The banners on main street Stayner will be changed from the summer to the winter banners after November 11th. In the coming year, the Stayner Chamber will help the Heritage Society on the commission of new Remembrance Day banners for next year. These new banners will depict our local war veterans.
WITCHES WALK - Friday November 2nd, 6-9 pm
This just in…The wagon has been booked to drive all witches, ghouls and goblins up and down Stayner’s main street for the Witches Walk! The event has expanded this year and will go from the Tim Hortons plaza to Stayner's Station Park Gazebo! There will also be stops along the way, including Ramona Holm Accounting and Stayner Foot Clinic, in the middle of the route!
Passports are $10 and are available at Stayner Home Hardware and EXIT REALTY WELCOME HOME. This event always attracts hundreds of participants and raises thousands for The Door Youth Program, so come out and walk (or ride) the Witches Walk!
STAYNER COUNTRY CHRISTMAS (CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING) – Friday November 30th, 7 pm
The Christmas Tree Lighting, re-branded this year as Stayner Country Christmas, will take place on Friday November 30th at 7:00 pm in Station Park and there are exciting new things happening with the event.
- New lights have been strung on the tree and the gazebo
- There will be a Wish Tree for people to hang their written wishes on
- There will be a station in the tourism building for kids to write letters to Santa
- Carollers have been booked
- Coffee has been donated
- A photographer has been booked
- Hats, mitts and scarves will be knit by volunteers and left in Station Park for those in need to take when needed
In order to make the event the best it can be, we are looking for donations of garlands and straw bales for added decoration for the Gazebo and area. STAYNER LIGHTS UP CHRISTMAS
Back for its second year, Stayner Lights Up Christmas will take place on the same day as the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in downtown Stayner, Friday November 30th. This event is separate from Stayner Country Christmas but is happening in tandem. Both events are working together to make the evening magical. Stayner Lights Up Christmas will run from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and the organizers are currently looking for student volunteers to be elves. The event is asking both Stayner businesses and Stayner Chamber Members to decorate their storefronts to be voted on for the honour of 1st Place ($100), 2nd Place ($75) and 3rd Place ($50) winners. The Stayner Chamber will once again be covering the cost of the $225 prize money, which will be donated directly to the Stayner Food Bank on behalf of the winners.

NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be on Wednesday November 21, 2018 in the Council Chambers at 217 Gideon St., the Clearview Municipal Office. Please note there will be no meeting in December.
