STAYNER CHAMBER DIRECTOR
Any members interested in becoming an Interim Director on the Chamber until the June 2020 AGM, please e-mail your interest to staynerchamber@gmail.com. The deadline has been extended to August 31st.  The Executive will vote on the new appointment and make the announcement at the meeting in September.

INFORMATION CENTRE VOLUNTEER
A few volunteer are wanted on Thursday nights during Music, Market & Park It to be in the Clearview Tourism Information & Heritage Centre to answer general questions. While at the market, many people are going into the Information Centre to look at pamphlets and ask questions. The summer students are often outside working so the Chamber would like to help fill that temporary void by having a body in the building. If you are interested in volunteering for a few hours on Thursday night, please contact Charley Lewis at charleysells@hotmail.com.

CANADA DAY
What a great day at Station Park!  The weather was beautiful and lots of people came out to celebrate the day with us.  Thank you to Martina Ernst for chairing the event and pulling everything together for a fantastic day. Also, a special thank-you to the Clearview Public Library for donating giant bags of activities for the kids, to Stayner Dairy Queen for donating the ice for our snow cone machine, to the Clearview & Stayner summer students who set everything up, helped throughout the day, and tore it all down again, and to the Clearview lifeguards who assisted with the booths that day.  See you again next year!

STAYNER ARTS FEST
Less than a week after Canada Day we were back in Station Park for Stayner Arts Fest!  More than 400 people visited the event which had 42 vendors (including food vendors), three entertainers, as well as a demonstration from Maizes Martial Arts.  Most of the vendors did very well and were very pleased with the day, saying they will be back next year. A huge thank-you to event Chairs Marion Spellman and Connie Leishman for their hard work in bringing us another successful Arts Fest!

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP BROCHURES
Store owners!  Would you be interested in having a stack of Clearview brochures or maps available in your stores to help promote tourism?  If so, please contact our summer student Kenzi at staynerchamberstudent@gmail.com and she will ensure you have some!

DOWNTOWN STAYNER PARKING MAP
Our summer student Kenzi has created a parking map for downtown Stayner on Google Maps. The map has both free parking and customer parking shown for the area.  The map is currently on the Stayner Chamber website under FAQ/Visitors tab here http://staynerchamber.ca/Visitors. You can scroll in and out on the map to see the parking locations more clearly.

CHILI COOKOFF
In doing our due diligence for the Chili Cookoff, event Chair, Phyllis Cook, contacted the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to ensure this event would be compliant and safe for participants. Phyllis was advised that no food that has been prepared at home can be distributed to the public. All food must be prepared in an inspected, certified kitchen, which disqualifies all non-restaurants from participating.  Due to this restriction, the event cannot continue as originally planned so it is currently on hold until further notice.

ADVERTISING
Want to advertise your business on the Stayner Chamber website and the Chamber’s ShopStayner website?  The cost is only $100 per month to have your logo/photo on the front page of BOTH websites, along with a brief blurb on your business. There is no limit on the number of times you can advertise. Please contact Kat Salvador at ksalvador75@gmail.com if interested.

NEXT MEETING
The next Chamber meeting will be in September.  Please join us on Wednesday September 18th at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers at 217 Gideon Street.
