Annual General Meeting
The AGM will take place on Wednesday, May 19th at 6:30pm. The General Meeting will take place immediately afterward. If you are not able to make the AGM but wish to have a vote at the meeting, please assign a proxy to vote on your behalf at the meeting. Proxy forms will be available on our website soon. To request a form in advance, please e-mail Kelly Kramer at clearviewchamber@gmail.com and you will be sent the link to the form when ready.
Directors Needed
A reminder that we are looking to fill the following positions at the AGM. Please let us know if you are interested to fill any of these important positions!
Vice President – Rebekkah Vaughn is running
Secretary – Open
Director (3-year) – Open
Director (2-year) – This is the remaining tenure to replace Rebekkah Vaughan if she is elected as VP
Chamber By-Law Amendment
A motion to amend our by-laws in certain specific areas was made at the last General meeting and will be voted upon at next month’s AGM. To read the details of the motion please check your e-mail as it was sent to all members on the evening of April 22nd. The motion is below.
Chamber President, Kelly Kramer, motions for the below by-law amendments, which are to amend the Associate Member requirement to allow it to be free, to include up to six, but no fewer than three Directors to the Clearview Chamber of Commerce and to require that all Directors and Officers sign the Chamber’s Oath of Office and Confidentiality Agreement upon election.
Chamber's First Paid Administrator
For the past few years, discussions have taken place about having a paid employee of the Chamber to help take some of the load off the Executive and Directors, and to have someone focused on the events that bring money to the Chamber. To that end, Kat Salvador will be hired as a temporary part-time employee on a 12-week contract basis after she transitions out of her Vice Presidency on May 19th. Her responsibilities will include:
- Membership Coordinator
- Marketing & Communications (Member e-mails, Newsletters, Facebook, etc.)
- Events Coordinator
- Summer Student Supervisor
Mother's Day Basket
Over 100 tickets have sold for the Mother’s Day Basket Draw so far! There are TWO baskets to be won this year. The baskets were on display in the window of Barb’s Clothes Closet for 10 days but have now been moved to the Creemore Village Pharmacy and A&D Bird Seed & Country Store. Tickets are available for purchase online at https://clearviewchamber.com/Mother'sDayGiftBasketDraw or in-person at Creemore Village Pharmacy, A&D Bird Seed & Country Store in Stayner or Circle K at the Esso in Stayner. Tickets are $2 for one ticket or $5 for three or $10 for six.
 
Music Market & Park It
It was announced by Clearview Township last week that Music, Market & Park It has been postponed for the month of June. They have pushed the Market launch date to Thursday, July 1st.
New Banners
Normally at this time of year, there are banners up along main street Stayner to advertise the upcoming events such as the Duck Race and Music, Market & Park It. Due to the cancellation of the Duck Race and postponement of the Market, there are no banners up and may not be for a while. Clearview Township has therefore decided to purchase new all-season banners that will advertise four main themes: Shop Clearview, Dine Clearview, Discover Clearview and Welcome to Clearview. The Shop/Dine/Discover Clearview will be in greens & blues, reflective of the Clearview branding guidelines. The Welcome to Clearview will have the Chamber logo and use the same navy blue branding colour of our logo.
The target for banner installation is the week of May 7-10 and will remain in place until a decision is made about the Music, Market and Park It, and whether those banners will be installed or not.
Official Incorporated Name Change
The Clearview Chamber of Commerce is becoming official! Currently, the Chamber is incorporated as the Stayner Chamber of Commerce but is operating as the Clearview Chamber of Commerce. We will now take the necessary steps to incorporate the Chamber as the Clearview Chamber of Commerce to make it official and to keep the books clean.
Economic Development Committee
President Kelly Kramer is now a representative on the Township’s Economic Development Committee. The Chamber will be your voice on the committee so if you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions, please e-mail Kelly at clearviewchamber@gmail.com.
Tourist Area By-Law
The motion to create a by-law that designates Clearview Township as a tourist area has been passed and the by-law will be ratified on Monday, April 26th. Businesses in Clearview now have the option of being open on statutory holidays, where before they legally could not.
Floor Stickers
Clearview Township has more floor stickers available if yours need a replenish! Please contact Amanda Murray at 705-428-6013 ext. 504 or amurray@clearview.ca to arrange for more stickers.
Chamber Referral Program - AMENDMENT
Due to receiving little to no interest from members to be a gift card supplier to someone who has earned a referral gift, it was decided to change the gift to be $20 off the following year's Chamber membership instead.
Facebook Business of the Month
We are pleased to report that we now have over 1,200 followers on our Facebook page! If you are interested in being featured as the Business of the Month on Facebook please let us know at clearviewchamber@gmail.com.
