Some local citizens have brought up the concern that fees for ice cream trucks are too high and should be lowered to allow them to do business in Clearview more easily. Permanent store owners are concerned about how non-local, temporary businesses will negatively impact their sales. Township Council is therefore reviewing the fees for its Vending Permit and is asking for feedback from the Clearview Chamber and Creemore BIA as representatives of our local businesses.
Currently, the annual fees for a Class A permit, (which operates from a motor vehicle capable of travelling or being hauled behind a motor vehicle), is $1000, and a Class B permit, (which is a non-motorized, muscular powered or stationary equipment or booth and shall include but is not limited to bicycle carts, portable barbeques, grills, a table or coolers), is $500 OR $50/$25 per day.
Clearview Township reviewed the surrounding municipalities and the average cost for an annual vending permit ranges between $250-$300.
Please provide input on whether you believe the fees of $1,000 (or $50 per day) and/or $500 (or $25 per day) should be changed by filling out this 4-question survey. The by-law itself will remain the same, the only change would possibly be to the fees.
