Rational Expressions is an inviting little gallery that offers an interesting selection of artwork and gifts from local, Canadian and international artists and artisans. Its warm setting draws you in to wander and the items I have found there have places of pride in my home. A visit to this gallery is always at the top of my to do list whenever I am in the Collingwood/Stayner area.
Whether travelling to Stayner or passing through, the Rational Expressions Gallery on Highway 26 is well worth a visit. The artwork, antiques, and gifts on offer are beautiful and varied, appealing to different tastes and interests. The work of local artists is highlighted - an impressive display of talent in painting, ceramics, woodturning, glasswork, and jewellery. There are also select items of interesting and attractive furniture or antiques. Of particular interest is a limited edition lithograph by internationally known and respected Wikwemikong Unceded First Nation artist, James Mishibinijima .The enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners have established a pleasant and welcoming space in which visitors are encouraged to spend time absorbing the pieces. If you have an interest in art, this is a must see.
Rational Expressions is a small, but full gallery/gift shop filled with work from Canadian and local artists. It is a perfect place to find a unique gift. The knowledgeable, friendly owners support local artists and host wonderful openings and events to support local and international charities. Just visiting this creative space is inspiring.

A charming small town art gallery that combines fine art with carefully selected gift items and antiques. A great spot to view fine art pieces, no stuffiness here. Loved the glass works and chatting with the owner about the origins of the pieces selected for the gallery. Definitely worth a see. The gallery rooms are well laid out and not overly cluttered which often happens in gift shops. The owners have been selective in the inventory they carry and give the fine artwork pieces ample space for individual viewing. Nice spot, check it out.
